A converted barn from US Highway 14 in Arena, Wisconsin is up for sale for $945,000.

The property extends over an area of ​​1.81 acres. In addition to the converted barn, the property includes two garages and a duplex (a two-story building with a separate apartment on each floor) which was formerly a farmhouse.

The owner spent 12 years converting the barn into the property’s primary residence, listing agent Kathy Lacey of Dwellhop Real Estate told Insider.

The list of records shows that this is the first time the property has been offered for sale.

“His parents owned the original property, so this property has been in the family for a very long time,” she said of the owner.

The median listing home in Arena, Wisconsin has a price tag of $289,900, making this a high-priced property at $945,000 and the most expensive single-family home in the area.

The converted barn features a loft design and vaulted ceiling.

Lacey said the owner carved all the pine beams in the house.

While the entire property is connected to natural gas lines, the current owner uses an outdoor wood-burning stove as the main source of heat for the buildings, she said.

The converted barn has three bedrooms – two on the first floor and the third in the attic.

According to the listing, there are four more bedrooms in two apartments.

Because the property is within the Highway Commercial District, owners are allowed to use a portion of their property for commercial purposes to work through the traffic, Lacey said. She added that one way the new owners can do this is by converting the duplexes into a short-term guest rental.

There are three stone-walled bathrooms in the converted barn.

“All the stones were made on site,” Lacey said. “The current owner has a strong construction background and is primarily focused on concrete work.”

Lacey said the owner is currently using one of the other buildings on the property as a recreational “man’s cave”. They are abundantly decorated with deer heads – they are not for sale.

“This building has a sauna and space for things like a pool table, ping pong table and other games. It also has a large garage yard to work on their equipment.”

She added that in addition to deer heads, all other recreational items in the building are for sale.
