Rehoboth Beach, Del. (Reuters) – US President Joe Biden spilled his bike on Saturday as he stopped to greet supporters during a weekend trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Appearing healthy and unharmed, he immediately rose again. “I’m fine,” Biden, 79, said after the fall in front of the press gathering. He said, “I grabbed my leg.”

The chief, who was wearing a helmet, said the toe cages on his bike would have to be removed after his foot was pinched before he could settle down.

Biden later spent several minutes chatting with people who had gathered to watch him ride his bike.

Biden and First Lady Jill Biden completed a morning bike ride in Gordons Pond on the Delaware coast. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Friday.

The White House said no medical attention was needed.

“As the president said, his foot got stuck in the pedal while he was getting off and he’s fine,” said a White House official, who asked not to be named. The president is looking forward to spending the rest of the day with his family.”
