WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday told Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell that he would give the central bank the space and independence to tackle inflation as it sees fit, a senior adviser said.
“The president reassured President Powell at the meeting, as he continued to stress today, that he respects the independence of the Federal Reserve,” said Brian Dees, Biden’s chief economic adviser.
