(Reuters) – A firefighter was killed when a building collapsed, trapping several people, the Philadelphia Fire Department said on Saturday.
The fire department said there were “two members trapped in the 300 West Indiana Street collapse. One member was taken to the hospital. The other, a 27-year-old veteran, was convicted [dead] at the crime scene.” The department later said that the incident was under control.
Jim Kenny, Mayor of Philadelphia, posted a message on Twitter (NYSE:) that read, “My grief to the members of @PhillyFireDept and everyone @Phil PhiladelphiaGov who lost one of us in the line of duty today.”
