Liam Llewellyn is a postgraduate graduate from Newport, South Wales. The 22-year-old said in his official bio that he would be joining the show because “Love Island is a great opportunity to meet someone.”
“I think 22 is a really nice age to meet someone. You still have many years ahead of you, so you have time to try things and grow together,” Llewellyn said.
He added that his friends describe it as “champagne”.
“You’d probably say he’s somewhat generous, somewhat caring, happy, talkative, cheerful, bubbly,” said Llewellyn. “I put my heart on my sleeve, I can’t hide how I feel about someone. I might be too emotional too, thinking about it.”
“Love Island” often has a few contestants from outside the UK. In Season 8, they include 27-year-old business owner David Sanclementi, who is originally from Rome, Italy, but now resides in Manchester, England.
Sanclimenti said in his official biography that he would bring his “Italian charm” to the villa.
“I’ll be the Italian stallion in the villa!” He said. “With my Italian attraction, I can also be a very romantic guy. I am good looking and have found that a lot of English girls really like me since I arrived in Manchester. They love being around me and I love being around them.”
Sanclimenti added that he wanted to find his soul mate and that he could be “a very deep person”.
“I am 27 years old now, I take my life and my goals very seriously. My biggest dream is to find someone to spend the rest of my life with.”
One of the first announced candidates is India Pollack, a 23-year-old hotel waitress from London, England.
Pollack’s official biography states that she would bring “flavor and liveliness” to the palace.
“I feel like I’m at a point in my life right now where I’m ready to meet new people and start dating,” she said. “I’ve been single for a while and I feel like it’s very difficult for my generation to date without being affected by social media and things like that.”
Pollack continued, “Love Island is as special as an enclosed space and I think it’s a great place to meet someone face to face and form a real connection.”
Paige Thorne, a 24-year-old paramedic from Swansea, Wales, joins the cast of “Love Island” because “there is no one” she can find in her hometown.
In her official bio, she said, “I tried and there was no one left. I need to get out and broaden my horizons and ‘Love Island’ brings everyone together for me. I don’t have to go out and I don’t have to wipe. I hope they can come to me now!”
Thorne said she would stop dating after she got out of her last relationship, but she was “bored.”
Thorne also said she has “bubbly energy” and is a “good chef,” which is important because contestants have used sandwiches as romantic meals in the past.
“If I had to pick out a typical dish, it would probably be Sunday brunch,” she said. “My hash browns over there, I think Gordon Ramsay would be impressed – I think it would be like a 9/10 or 10/10.”
Gemma Owen is an International Equestrian Business Owner and Rider from Chester, England. According to her official biography, she has been involved in the dressage of Great Britain since she was eleven years old and is the daughter of former England professional footballer Michael Owen.
The 19-year-old plans to come to Love Island for a “really fun summer”.
She said, “I was dating someone and then it didn’t work out, so I said, ‘Why not? “
Owen said she was “funny, seductive, fiery” and “very competitive”.
“I will always do what I want,” Owen said. “But at the same time, I wouldn’t fail someone in a real relationship or stand in the couple’s way if they had a real connection. I wouldn’t do anything for another girl. I wouldn’t be happy if they did it to me.”
Last year, Hugo Hammond became the first rider to go to Love Island with a disability. 23-year-old Tasha Ghouri is following in his footsteps. She is a model and dancer from Thirsk, England and is also deaf.
She said in her official bio that she joined the show because her dating life “was a bit of a mess.”
“This is an opportunity for me to find ‘the fit’ while having a great summer,” said Gorey. “I am definitely ready for a relationship. I am 23 now so I am ready to meet someone and go on vacation and travel with them.”
She also said she was willing to “step on the toes” in the “most beautiful way” to find her husband.
Guri also said that her friends and family think she is “unruly” but that she is “inspirational because of my hearing and cochlear implants.”
“It inspires quite a few people because I’m really open about it,” she said.
Andrew Le Page, a 27-year-old real estate agent, said in his official bio that he is on “Love Island” because he is “really single for once.”
Le Page, who hails from the Guernsey Channel Channel, describes himself as “very loyal”.
“I am a good friend because when I am with someone, I am everything to them,” he said.
Ikenna Ekwonna is a 23-year-old Pharmacist from Nottingham, England. According to his official biography, he was in only one relationship before Villa.
“I hope to bring spontaneity and excitement,” Ikuna said. “I’m not really shy about talking to people and I don’t really care what people think.”
Amber Pickford, a 24-year-old nanny from London, England, has shared her official biography of her dislike.
“I don’t like men who brag,” she said. “I don’t like flashy, flashy guys — just have personality and make me laugh. There was this guy and he was trying to show his car keys on purpose and we were literally in the middle of a restaurant!”
Pickford also said she hopes to bring some fun to the villa.
“I can definitely make up my own mind, so I’m not sure how that’s going to happen,” she added. “Working with children, I have patience with children, but with adults, they annoy me!”
Dami Hope is a senior microbiologist from Dublin, Ireland.
The 26-year-old contestant said in his official bio that he’s on “Love Island” because he wants to be “more open” this year.
“Love Island is a different experience, I’m going to talk to different girls, some of them may not go well, some may not go well, so it’s a fun experience,” he said.
Hope says he’s “so excited” about being an Aries.
“I always put this person first,” he said. “If they have something they want to do or are passionate about it, I’ll make sure that even if it’s something I’m not talented at, I’ll just make myself talented so it helps them. I’m really good at being on a team and really taking care of each other.”
Luca Bisch, a 23-year-old fishmonger, said in his official bio that he’d rather meet women when he’s “on the go” than on dating apps.
“I think when you look for him, it’s not that easy, like you’re so desperate for him,” Beech said. “If I think you’re the right person or I like you, I’ll take you out on a date, but other than that, if we’re talking and I don’t like where it’s going – I won’t kick the dates.”
The Brighton fishmonger also said he ended a four-year relationship a year ago.
Love Island begins June 6 on ITV UK.
