Chappelle was appearing on Netflix’s Is A Joke: The Festival when it all went downhill and has been fully cooperating with the police investigation into the accident since then.

“We deeply care about the safety of our creators and vigorously defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence,” a Netflix spokesperson told CNN in a statement.

When it came to his response, Chappelle wanted to keep his profession and those who rushed to help amid the chaos in the spotlight.
