Sadio Mane has decided to leave Liverpool this summer, with Bayern Munich among the clubs hoping to sign the 30-year-old striker. He’s been at Anfield since 2016 and thinks it’s time for a new experience.
One year left on Mane’s contract, and while Mohamed Salah, who suffers from the same situation, has announced his place, the Senegal international intends to inform Liverpool that he wants to move.
Liverpool have tried to persuade Mane to extend his deal and will hesitate to sell and the question is whether they will get an offer that will convince them to agree to his exit. It would cost well over £30m before they would consider selling and would want to look for a replacement first.
Divock Origi has joined Milan, Roberto Firmino’s level is faltering, and while Luis Diaz has been an excellent addition in attack, Jurgen Klopp does not want to be without Mane this summer.
The Senegal international had hinted that he was ahead of the Champions League final and said on Liverpool Media Day when asked about his future: “Come back to me on Saturday and I’ll give you the best answer you want to hear for sure. It’s something special.”
Bayern are a strong contender in the race to convince Liverpool to sell, but they have to face the competition. The German champions have insisted that Robert Lewandowski stay for the last year of his contract, but the striker wants to join Barcelona, who have offered a three-year contract.
