2022 – Sergio Perez follows Monaco’s win by extending his contract by two years at Red Bull | Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez extended his contract with Red Bull for two years. The Mexican, who won the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, is now linked with the team until the end of the 2024 season.

The 32-year-old is currently third in the drivers’ championship standings after finishing fourth last year.

“It’s been a great week for me,” said Perez. “Winning the Monaco Grand Prix is a dream for every driver, and to announce that I will be with the team until 2024 makes me very happy. I am very proud to be part of this team and I feel at home here now.”

Perez, who joined Red Bull in late 2020, won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last season and climbed four more podiums.

This season he has already earned 110 points from seven races, including his victory in Monaco, while taking first place at the Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia.

Team boss Christian Horner said: “Checo has done an amazing job.

“He has proven time and time again that he is not only a great team player but as his comfort level increases, he has become a real force to be reckoned with at the sharp end of the net. It was easy for us to maintain his pace, his racing skills and his experience.”
