2022 – The judge in Alex Jones’ trial will not prevent Sandy Hook’s attorney from forwarding Jones’ text messages to the Jan. 6 panel

Mark Bankston, attorney for Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, asks Alex Jones questions about text messages during the trial in Travis County Courthouse in Austin, Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

  • Alex Jones’ lawyers mistakenly sent Jones’ phone details to Sandy Hook’s family attorney.
  • That attorney said he intended to turn over the records to the Jan. 6 commission unless the judge said otherwise.
  • The January 6 commission was hoping to get Jones’ phone to understand his role in the Capitol riots.

The judge presiding over Sandy Hook’s defamation trial in Alex Jones had no intention of preventing the plaintiff’s attorney from delivering Jones’ text messages to the panel dated January 6, according to the New York Times.

The Times reported Friday that Judge Maya Guerra Gamble said she would not prevent lawyers representing Sandy Hook’s parents from handing over the content of Jones’ phone, which the plaintiff’s lawyers said was sent to them in error.

Mark Bankston, one of the attorneys representing the parents, previously told the court that federal law enforcement and the January 6 commission investigating the Capitol riots asked about the contents of Jones’ phones. Bankston said he plans to hand her over unless the judge tells him otherwise.

β€œI certainly intend to do so,” he said, β€œunless you tell me not to.”

On Friday, the judge said she believed lawyers had already turned over the contents, according to The Times.

According to Pinkston, Alex Jones’ attorneys inadvertently sent two years of phone records to the plaintiff’s attorney about two weeks ago. Jones’ lawyers hoped in vain that the lawyers would return the materials.

Rolling Stone, citing anonymous sources, reported that the House Select Committee plans to obtain the data from the plaintiff’s attorney.

The commission had a keen interest in documents relating to Jones and his possible role in the Capitol attack.

In November, the committee summoned the far-right media commentator because he was known to have helped organize the rally at Ellipse near the White House before the storming of the Capitol.

Outside the courtroom Thursday, Bankston said he was not sure it “even covers the period they care about.” According to a TV show.
