Naomi Judd died by suicide in April at the age of 76.
“In order to be the healthiest grandfather of my firstborn grandson, Calais, born 4/13, two weeks and two days before my mom left to break the cycle of addiction and family dysfunction,” Judd continued, “I must continue to show up first and do my personal healing work.”
“I know I feel so helpless – especially now,” she wrote. “I know that love can build a bridge, as trite as that may sound.” I find myself composing the song my mother wrote for the masses at night here on the farm.”
“I really know I can’t handle this painful thing on my own and it’s okay to ask for help,” she added. “I will continue to fight for my faith, for myself and for my family, and I will continue to appear and sing.”
Judd announced that she plans to continue The Judds: The Final Tour as a star-studded event to honor her mother.
