Last Tuesday, 19 children and two teachers were killed in a mass shooting in Ovaldi, Texas. The devastating incident was the 27th school shooting in the United States this year.

“I want to say I’m shocked and stunned…but I really don’t feel anything,” said Ryan Boss, who has been an executive at an American arms company for two decades. “These are the corollaries of this system in America that we created here.”

Busse left the industry in 2020 after becoming disillusioned with its direction. His book Gunfight: My Battle Against the Industry That Radical America documents his time in the industry. Noshin tells Iqbal how the arms industry has become less regulated and weapons are becoming more and more deadly.
